View from the terrace, Nymans
The terrace runs in front of the ruined house, and gives views across the countryside to the east. The field in the foreground is part of the National Trust property and gives access to the woodland walks in Nymans Woods, off the photo to the left.

In the distance, around 3 miles away, the arches of Balcombe Viaduct are just visible (the pale straight line to the left of the small tree in the centre of the picture, around halfway between the edge of the grass area and the horizon). Built in 1841, it carries the London - Brighton railway over the River Ouse (see TQ3227 : Ouse Valley Viaduct commonly known as the Balcombe Viaduct. The high ground beyond is the Weald south of Crowborough.
