NO5634 : Waxwing

taken 10 years ago, near to Carnoustie, Angus, Great Britain

One of a flock of 10 Waxwings that has been making regular visits for the last week. Attracted by the last of the apple crop, this is as good a reason as any to leave tidying the garden until spring.

Waxwings are a seasonal visitors from summer breeding grounds in Scandinavia and Russia. Some years see large numbers coming to the UK, this is the first time they have visited our garden in the seven years we have lived here.
