Southwards panorama from a high point
Taken from the roof of TM0734 : Old Hall south facade, this view looks out along the ridge between Dedham Vale and the small Riber valley further east. The floods shown in TM0533 : Dedham across flooded marshes have started to subside. In the right foreground are two evergreen trees, one a Scots pine and the other the crippled remnants of a once-towering Wellingtonia that was struck by lightning in the mid-1990s. The tree was reduced to about one third of its previous height. Now two side branches have taken over the role of the main trunk.
