Layers In The Dunes
Layers In The Dunes
The dunes at Ardnave often show different layers of sand, graded according to size, colour, and shell content. The dark band is a little firmer than the others and is more resistant to wind erosion. It's not hard to see how sandstone gets its layers and colours.
