Afon Clarach, looking inland from Clarach Bay
Just a few miles in length, Afon Clarach is the result of the confluence of several streams that flow from lead and silver mining areas, including Cwmsymlog and Cwmerfyn, so when the mines were fully active the river would have been heavily polluted, and no doubt still carries some heavy metal seepage from the now defunct mines.
