SO6841 : The Hereford & Gloucester Canal

taken 15 years ago, near to Staplow, County of Herefordshire, England

The Hereford & Gloucester Canal
The Hereford & Gloucester Canal
One section of the canal where the cut is still visible and the towpath is in good order.
Excavation of the Herefordshire section of the canal began on the 17th November 1839 and completed in May 1845. It was too late - the railway era had begun.
