Rothiemurchus and Meall a' Bhuachaille 810m
In the unbroken possession of the Grants for over 400 years is Rothiemurchus, The Great Plain of the Firs (Francis Thompson, "Discovering Speyside"). From Tullochgrue the image shows a small part of the estate. The ridge in the distance extends from Craiggowrie (Goat Hill) in the west to Meall a' Bhuachaille (Hill of the Shepherd) in the east. At 810 metres this hill is a Corbett and has magnificent views from its summit. The Ridge (as it is called) is a signed walk from the visitor centre at Glenmore and takes about 5 hours in summer but in severe winter conditions is not a walk that may be accomplished by all persons!
