The opening of the new East Midlands Parkway Station has created some new views in the area. This is looking from the new access bridge towards Ratcliffe Power Station. The stub of railway track just showing at the bottom is the remains of the southern access into the power station site. It is a relic of the days when the Leicestershire coalfield was still operating and feeding this location. Now all the coal comes from the north - Nottinghamshire/Yorkshire pits and imports via Immingham.
