Newbridge clay works
Seen from Clay Lane. The Newbridge works occupy land between the rivers Bovey and Teign and are operated by ECC.
"Ball Clay has been extracted from the site since the 1920's, and the site currently produces some 100000 tonnes per annum from 40 seam groups. These clays are hauled to the surface and then taken for blending at Heathfield or Broadway processing plants. All Newbridge clays are used in sanitaryware blends." This and further details about the development of the site are in a 2003 report at Link
