Retreat House
Retreat House
The Retreat is a house of a round design. It was built by the Earl of Wemyss as a hunting lodge and retreat about 1784. There is a story of a reluctant bride held captive here. She is said to have escaped and married her true love at the Abbey Church. The enraged father is said to have shot down the bridegroom at the church door.
