De Montfort Square, Leicester
De Montfort Square, Leicester
This delightful square lies to the south of Leicester's famous New Walk. The statue is of the Revd Robert Hall, an influential Baptist preacher born in Leicestershire; the artist was John Birnie Philip and it was unveiled in 1871. The granite blocks to the right are the 'tranquility seats' designed by Graeme Mitcheson and unveiled in 2003.
