The lake has been drained for a clean up. It is being done in two sections to allow access to the water and an island for the wildlife. This is the first time it has been drained for 22 years. On the right is an island that usually provides sanctuary for birds on the lake.
These are Great White Pelicans (Pelecanus crispus), as were the original London Parks birds donated by Russia. There is also however, I understand, a single American Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis) with them now.
