Moor Sands/Venerick's Cove
Moor Sands/Venerick's Cove
Moor Sands is a local name for the beach. Venerick's Cove is perhaps the narrow inlet between rocks, beyond the beach. The geology is unusual: the darker rocks, centre and left, are highly folded gneiss or mica schist; the paler rocks on the right are pistachio-coloured hornblende schist. Ravens croak and peregrine falcons circle over the cliffs. In the distance, top left, is the mouth of Salcombe harbour/Kingsbridge estuary SX7337.
