Sheringham - the museum signal box
Built in the E&M pavilion style, Sheringham railway station opened on 16th June 1887 and was extended in 1896. The exterior of the current station building looks similar to the extended station and the canopy > LinkExternal link has recently been restored in its original style. The station also houses a museum signal box (on platform 2, seen here) and a tea room and gift shop.

The locomotive parked beside it is a Class 8 D3940, built in 1960 by BR Derby and withdrawn in 1994 as 08 772. It is powered by a English Electric EE6KT which generates 400bhp@ 680 rpm. With a maximum speed of about 15mph, D3940 was a member of the largest class on BR. It has been unofficially named (at various times): "CAMULODUNUM" & "TINY".
