This is the southerly most point of Shell Bay, located immediately across the seaward entrance to Poole Harbour. Shell Bay is a popular beach and walking area accessed by the Sandbanks chain ferry. The vessel shown in the picture is dredging the deep water channel used by passenger ferries and commercial shipping into and out of Poole Harbour.
