Jubilee Clock, Harlesden
Jubilee Clock, Harlesden
For the occasion of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887, local authorities were encouraged to have these handsome clocks erected, and many remain today. The Government's enthusiasm for the clocks did not, however, extend to paying for them, and funds had to be raised locally. Neither was the intelligent and generous Prince Consort able to contribute, as he had died some 26 years earlier.
