taken 15 years ago, near to Cockwood, Devon, England
Bull Hill Sands in the River Exe estuary
Taken from on board the MV My Queen on an RSPB organised cruise. The cormorants (Phalacrocorax aristotelis) are resting on Great Bull Hill Sand, whereas the rusting catamaran (it is, seen close up) is on Little Bull Hill Sand, both Bull Hills being sandbanks that dry at low tide. Behind the catamaran is the River Clyst valley, with the Mount Hawke area of Topsham on the left, and Exton to the right. Behind on the skyline rises part of Exeter.
