Goldthorn Terrace (part), Penn Road, Wolverhampton
This terrace, built in the 1850s was in a dilapidated state but was repaired and refurbished in the early 1980s(?) as ground floor flats and two floor maisonettes. It is now a listed building. In front of the terrace is an extensive depressed area which used to be gardens, but was re-landscaped as an open park-like area, which now partially hides the terrace from the main road. Now why on earth was such a valuable plot of land never utilized for housing, or an extension for the adjacent Wolverhampton Orphan Asylum (now Royal Wolverhampton School) which was already in existence? Read on for the (possible) grizzly story. LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
