Knights Templar carved coffin lid, recycled
Knights Templar carved coffin lid, recycled
Stone used by the Templars to make coffins has been reused in later times in various parts of the church, including the altar step. Here it forms a lintel in the passageway that connects the tower to the nave. (Camera is on the window sill, pointing up).
With thanks to the local guide who took me in to see the tower and its contents.
