TM0616 : 'Coastal Squeeze'

taken 9 years ago, near to Brightlingsea, Essex, Great Britain

'Coastal Squeeze'
'Coastal Squeeze'
The salt marsh habitat along the Essex coast is eroding due to tidal action. Normally the marshes would over time 'roll back' inland keeping the width of the strip about the same. However they now come uop against manmade seawalls and so erode faster and get narrower. The strips of marsh habitat outside the sea wall in some places are getting very narrow.
