TM2524 : Sea wall

Sea wall
Sea wall
The tidal flats to the right are part of the Hamford Water National Nature Reserve. This picture shows the difference in levels between the inside of the wall and the marsh outside. The seawall originally dates from the C14th and it has been suggested that it follows such a sinuous course because the builders followed the lines of the sheep trods through the marshes as these showed where the land was solid enough to build upon.
