SP3378 : C Block, awaiting demolition

C Block, awaiting demolition
C Block, awaiting demolition
The building on the left was built in 1960 for the then Lanchester College of Technology, now Coventry University. On a gloomy New Year's Eve, the contents, students and staff of the Sir Frank Whittle building (previously known as C Block) have been relocated and all that's left is demolition in February 2009.

The footway here follows the line of New Street, a route believed to have been in existence since the 14th century. Ancient timbered buildings lining the street survived somewhat longer than C Block but were damaged during world war 2 and cleared for the building of the Lanchester College.
