Men at work on the beach west of Lyme Regis
A team from Natural England have completed the removal of a small dinosaur skeleton from the limestone bed at the foot of the cliffs. A section of rock two metres by three metres and 300mm thick has been taken away in pieces over the last few days. The final job was to concrete the hole to protect the bed from wave damage. The surrounding rock will be removed in a laboratory and the skeleton will end up as part of a museum collection.
The site lies within a National Nature Reserve and is noted in particular for small dinosaur skeletons.
