Danger Ahead
Danger Ahead
The A556, Manchester's main route to the south, drops from a dual carriageway to simple four lane road. Hugely busy, with numerous low-speed junctions on the flat: one of the most dangerous roads in the area. Plans for rebuilding this section of road have existed since the 1960s, but have repeatedly foundered due to government budget cuts or NIMBY-ism.
