SK7470 : The Rebel Stone
near to Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, Great Britain

The Rebel Stone
The Rebel Stone is positioned alongside the old Great North Road, just south of Tuxford. It is engraved 'Here Lies a Rebel - 1745'. Tradition has it that a group of prisoners were being taken to London following the Jacobite Rising of 1745 when one fell from the waggon and was killed. He was buried where he fell and later this stone was erected, presumably by a sympathiser.
