NS3678 : Boundary wall and fence

Boundary wall and fence
Boundary wall and fence
The field on the other side of the wall and fence belongs to Asker Farm.

Immediately to the north-east, the land on this side of the fence is hemmed in by the wall on one side, and a fairly steep slope on the other: NS3679 : Stream near boundary wall and fence. However, here to the south-west, the ground becomes more level.

An Ordnance Survey map from about 1914 reveals that a rifle range extended from roughly this point, following the line of the boundary wall in a south-westerly direction for about 500 metres; the entire length of the rifle range is therefore visible in this photograph; its far end would have been located a little beyond the point where the line of trees visible in the background meets the line of the boundary wall.
