Rock Outcrop - Black Head
Rock Outcrop - Black Head
Guide books advise that this is an igneous rock known as 'greenstone'. It is hard and on the headland there is an disused quarry for the stone. Apparently the hard rock is of volcanic origin and came from an eruption way below the earth's surface and within a great mountain. Years of erosion has resulted in this volcanic rock being exposed as we see in this photo.
