ST0166 : Defensive blocks at Limpert Bay, Gileston

taken 9 years ago, near to West Aberthaw, The Vale of Glamorgan/Bro Morgannwg, Great Britain

Defensive blocks at Limpert Bay, Gileston.
Defensive blocks at Limpert Bay, Gileston.
These blocks form a barrier between the beach and the land behind them named 'The Walls'. The beach, despite its boulders, would have been considered a potential landing point for invading forces on the South Wales coast at time of war which is why this 'wall' was placed here. There are a number of pillboxes situated along the defences as well as at strategic points along the coast.
