Hull Royal Infirmary
Hull Royal Infirmary
Looking northwest towards the tower block on Anlaby Road from the corner of Convent Lane. Built on the site of the old Western General Hospital, Hull Royal was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II on June 16th 1967. I stayed in the children's ward on the top floor shortly after it opened and a couple of us kids threw oranges out of the window hoping to see them squish in the car park below. The oranges were tough and were not badly hurt. It was the car roofs that squished.
