Walking white willows, Eye Mead
Walking white willows, Eye Mead
This landmark copse of old white willows (Salix alba) is now on the South bank of the Dorset Stour. An 1847 tithe map shows them on an island in the river, while an 1813 Inclosure map shows them on the North Bank. Either the willows have walked, or the river has moved.
