The Cowshed Restaurant, 53,Northgate
Parts of this grade II dual listed building date back to 1596. The interior retains some timber framing, including chamfered oak beams and joists. The ground floor has the remains of a moulded stone fireplace. The upper floor retains an oak panelled frieze and an elaborate Elizabethan plaster ceiling which contains the Garter Arms of Elizabeth I. There is also a complete fireplace.
