New Bridge above Disher Force
New Bridge above Disher Force
This bridleway crossing of Thackthwaite Beck has often been difficult during periods of high water levels, and the only alternative to wet feet has been a detour upstream and a rather tricky crossing of an old dam. In 2008 the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority erected this bridge to make life easier for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The bridge is also wide enough for quad bikes. This is an ancient route, but the bridge is almost certainly the first ever built at this point.
