Grimsby Ice Factory - Compressor
Grimsby Ice Factory - Compressor
The ice factory had 3 giant compressors which at maximum could make 30 tonnes of ice per hour. Built new in 1929, the top of the cylinders are about 3 metres from the ground. This picture is a close up of one of the 3 individual compressors, each of 3 cylinders and driven by electric motors. For a photo of the now derelict factory see TA2710 : The Grimsby Ice Company Building.
