Drax Power Station Jetty
Drax Power Station Jetty
The Turbines, Generators, Generator covers, Steam Drums and Generator Transformers came by ship to the jetty already loaded on transporters, they were driven off the ship and down to the Power Station. Pickfords & Robert Wynns were the haulage contractors. Unit No.1 steam Drum came to the site in three separate sections and was welded together on site.
I don't remember how long it took, but I do know it was weeks rather than days working 24 hours a day. Units 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 came ready assembled.
