taken 10 years ago, near to Polesworth, Warwickshire, Great Britain

The Anker valley from Stipershill
The Anker valley from Stipershill
The narrow valley between Stipershill and Hoo Hill (marked by the obelisk on the skyline LinkExternal link is bursting with geography. In the foreground is the River Anker, flowing l to r on its way to join the River Tame at Tamworth. The Trent Valley section of the West Coast main line crosses the Coventry Canal; there is a sewage works on the other side of the railway; and the B5000 Grendon Road skirts the summit of Hoo Hill, behind the hedge on the skyline. Stipershill itself is rather disfigured by a trail bike course threaded through the fine trees on its steep slopes.
