near to Hermitage, West Berkshire, Great Britain

Grimsbury Castle – Iron-age Hillfort
A tangle of trees and leaves beneath which lies plateau gravel and the undulating ramparts of this iron-age hillfort Link
. The hill’s contours make the fort triangular in shape and some 8 acres in size, containing several separate enclosures protected by ramparts and ditches. Grimsbury Castle is half a mile south of the village of Hermitage. The site has not been investigated apart from trial trenching from which some dating evidence was obtained. The fort was definitely occupied between the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC (2200 years ago), and probably housed a fluctuating population of up to 250 or so over a longer period Link
