Ramsbury Corner – Iron-age Hillfort
This is a view of the southern part of this 8 acre hillfort which once had a single defensive perimeter bank, but the ground (on plateau gravel) is now fully cultivated. The southern lip of the fort runs along the left edge of the picture, at which point the ground falls steeply away to the left. The site is located between the village of Cold Ash and Bucklebury Common. The nearest hillfort, Grimsbury Castle SU5172 (the same size but heavily wooded), is some two miles away to the north near Hermitage. Other hillforts in ‘historic’ Berkshire are listed at: Link
