Sidney Sussex College was founded in 1596 by the Lady Frances Sidney, Countess of Sussex. The Hall Court, although altered significantly in the 19th century, is one of the original parts of the College, the two wings being completed in 1598. The college lies immediately east of Sidney Street in the heart of the city.
