Marrick Steps on the Swale
Marrick Steps on the Swale
The bottom section of what is traditionally known as Marrick Steps on the River Swale marks the end of the hardest bit of paddling on the Swale Charity Paddle, a long descent from Grinton to Richmond run as a fund-raising event for charity every March. Logic says that Marrick Steps should be an insignificant rapid a kilometre upstream where stepping stones cross the river, and this one should be Ellerton Priory rapid, but such a change would cause confusion.
