NZ0515 : Rapids below Barnard Castle

Rapids below Barnard Castle
Rapids below Barnard Castle
Downstream of Barnard Castle, the River Tees flows over a natural weir and a short rapid. This is an evening view at low summer flow, suitable for dogs paddling, herons fishing, and dippers looking for aquatic insects (all visible if you look hard enough). The normal line taken by canoeists paddling this drop (in much higher flows than this) is directly in front of the house visible in the background (or behind the heron).
