Lawrence's Bay, St. Martin's
Looking north west diagonally across the grid square from the hill behind New Quay. Commercial flower growing remains a major "industry" in the Scilly Isles but on St. Martin's in particular wind-blown sand can cut the blooms to shreds. The hedges are intended to protect the fields and to provide a windbreak against windblown sand.
