Wolsingham playwave
Wolsingham playwave
The River Wear flows over a smooth rock slab at a shallow angle, creating a wide, retentive but normally very forgiving wave to play on. At low river levels it becomes too shallow and at very high levels it can get a bit more vicious. The level shown was a happy medium and a fine end to the run down from Stanhope to the take-out under the bridge river left (behind the photographer).
