This bridge carries the public footpath in SK4841 : Public footpath to Cossall across the canal on its way to Cossall. Note the substantial stonework supporting the banks. Certain types of craft could pass under a bridge at this point but it is most likely that there once was either a swing bridge or a humped back bridge at this site to accommodate the fully laden coal badges that used to use the canal before it closed in 1934.
