Plaque, Beacon Hill, Torquay
Plaque, Beacon Hill, Torquay
The plaque, commemorating a visit by King George VI and Princess Elizabeth in May 1942 to review RAF units, is on the wall below the triangular site between Parkhill Road and Beacon Hill as they meet. One aspect of the contemporary view from the site is at SX9163 : Corner of Living Coasts & Outer Harbour, Torquay. Not far below is another, more tangible reminder of World War II - see SX9163 : D-Day slipway, Torquay and SX9163 : Wartime embarkation ramps, Torquay Harbour.
