Hooken pinnacles and red-stained sea
An area of sea has been stained red by the Mercia mudstone which forms the cliffs just to the west of this area, and underneath the white chalk and greensand. The mudstone is composed of very small particles; once eroded by waves and washed into the sea they remain in suspension.
