SP2152 : Kinky footpath

near to Atherstone on Stour, Warwickshire, Great Britain

Kinky footpath
Kinky footpath
The footpath from Preston-on-Stour to Heath Farm and beyond makes a turn to the right in the middle of this field for no apparent reason. A clue to the cause however is the bunker SP2152 : Abandoned Bunker in the field in the distance and the two piles of stone just visible in the field. This is the northern end of what was the WWII Stratford Airfield. LinkExternal link and presumably the footpath follows the line of some hedge or field boundary removed when the airfield was constructed.
