There are two footpaths parallel to the River Tees on its north side opposite Egglestone Abbey. This steep little track climbs the scars to join the lower one to the upper one and shows up particularly well in low evening sun. This point catches the wind - the trees really are leaning at the angle seen in this photo, although the low viewpoint on the lower footpath does rather emphasise this.
