SO9600 : Coates Roundhouse

Coates Roundhouse
Coates Roundhouse
This is another of the round houses which are a unique characteristic of the Thames & Severn Canal. Famously this one had an inverted conical roof which was used to collect rainwater. Very ecologically sound!

Today the property is disused and at the time of my visit it was surrounded by snowdrops!

The roundhouse is on the boundary of two adjacent squares.
