New road looking at Loch Seaforth
This cutting enabled a new road to reach the village of Rhenigidale, which previously was only reachable by sea or a hefty hike over the hills. A Youth Hostel was established at Rhenigidale in 1962, but it was not until 1990 that a road was built to the village. It is also accessible by a spectacular footpath from the southwest.
