TM2848 : Sutton Hoo Burial Site

taken 10 years ago, near to Woodbridge, Suffolk, Great Britain

Sutton Hoo Burial Site.
Sutton Hoo Burial Site.
Plan of the Sutton Hoo burial ground on the Visitors Viewing Platform. The platform looks directly on to 'Mound 1', the site of the ship burial that was excavated in 1939. The treasures from the ship burial were donated to the nation by Mrs. Pretty the landowner in 1939, (what a priceless legacy), and are held of course in the British Museum. There are several copies of the burial artefacts in the Sutton Hoo visitors exhibition centre on site.
